Governor Umahi rescues woman and her 2 children

The woman, whose name was not given languished in the Abakaliki prisons till she was rescued by the state governor, David Umahi.

A statement from the chief press secretary to the governor, Emma Anya, said Governor Umahi ordered that the woman be released after being briefed by theNational Human Right Commission (NHRC).

The NHRC was investigating alleged extra-judicial killings of some inmates of the Abakaliki prisons, during the August 18 attempted jail break, according to Vanguard.

The report said the chairman of the NHRC, Professor Ben Angwe, told the governor that many of the inmates were suffering so much so that it would be difficult to compensate them.
