Ondo residents protest against Jimoh Ibrahim

An early morning protest has hit Akure, the Ondo state capital following the naming of businessman Jimoh Ibrahim as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission shocked the Ahmed Makarfi faction of the PDP with the naming of Ibrahim as the party’s candidate late Thursday, October 27.
Residents of the state are currently infuriated with some saying they would not support Ibrahim. The anger spread across the state capital this morning with irate residents blocking major roads and setting bonfires to protest against
Ibrahim.
At the time of this report, a full statement was still being expected by the state government and the Makarfi’s faction of the PDP which had last night insisted on Jegede as its candidate.
However, the Ali Modu Sheriff faction which Jimoh Ibrahim belongs has congratulated him and described his recognition by INEC as good for democracy
